Description

A quick and delicious meal featuring tender noodles tossed with juicy ground beef, savory sauces, and aromatic garlic, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by cooking the linguine according to the package instructions, usually taking about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the ground beef, cooking until it is browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes. Be sure to drain any excess fat before moving to the next step.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you’re aiming for a little heat. Mix everything thoroughly to combine all the flavors for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry. Pour this mixture into the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked linguine to the skillet. Toss the noodles gently in the sauce until they are well coated, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Garnish the dish with freshly sliced green onions and serve hot for an unforgettable meal.

Notes

You can find hoisin sauce and ground ginger in the international aisle of most grocery stores. Feel free to substitute the linguine with any pasta of your choice or even use rice noodles for a different texture.
