Ingredients
- 8 oz bow tie pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 1 cup diced onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the bow tie pasta. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the diced bell peppers, onions, and minced garlic. Sauté for 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, then stir in the diced tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Mix well and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes until everything is heated through and slightly thickened.
- Toss with Pasta: Add the cooked bow tie pasta to the skillet, gently tossing it with the sausage and vegetable mixture until everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Transfer to serving plates while hot and generously sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, try using plant-based sausage. To make it gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free pasta.
