Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 pounds of beef roast (chuck or sirloin)
  • 1 packet of onion soup mix
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 4 to 6 hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone or Swiss cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the beef roast in the crockpot.
  2. Mix together the onion soup mix, beef broth, and water in a separate bowl.
  3. Season the beef with salt and pepper, if desired.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 480 to 600 minutes or high for 240 to 300 minutes until the beef is tender.
  5. Shred the beef with a fork and let it soak in the juices.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls topped with cheese.
  7. Use the cooking liquid as a dipping sauce.

Notes

Use a well-marbled cut for the best texture and avoid overcooking to keep the beef moist.
