Description
A delicious and easy-to-make casserole that combines creamy layers, seasoned meat, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners or potlucks.
Ingredients
- 12 oz (340g) spaghetti
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream (optional)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz (700g) marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1-2 cups shredded mozzarella
- Extra Parmesan for topping
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat with a tablespoon of oil. Add ground beef or sausage and chopped onion, cooking for 5-7 minutes until browned and translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Prepare the sauce by stirring in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning into the meat mixture. Let it simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, grated Parmesan, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Toss in the hot drained spaghetti until well-coated.
- Assemble the casserole by preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter, layer half of the spaghetti mixture, followed by the meat sauce, the remaining spaghetti, mozzarella, and extra Parmesan.
- Bake the casserole uncovered for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve by letting it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
Notes
For a creamier texture, add more cream cheese or a splash of cream to the sauce. Consider garnishing with fresh herbs before serving.
