Description

Juicy, crispy smash burgers cooked to perfection, packed with flavor and ideal for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 80/20 lean
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon grated yellow onion
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 white hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 8 slices vine-ripe tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Fold a piece of parchment paper in half to create a triangle. Tuck the corners under the burger to form a pocket.
  2. Heat the griddle to a high temperature. Roll the ground beef into balls and place them on the griddle with space in between.
  3. Lay a piece of parchment paper over each ball and use a spatula to press down firmly, smashing the patty flat.
  4. Apply strong pressure while smashing to achieve crispy, caramelized edges.
  5. Assemble your burgers starting with the bottom bun, then add a slice of cheese, the smash patty, and your desired toppings.
  6. Enjoy your homemade smash burger and appreciate the mix of flavors and textures.

Notes

For a twist, try different cheeses or additional toppings like bacon or avocado. Pair with fries or onion rings for a classic meal.
