Description
Juicy, crispy smash burgers cooked to perfection, packed with flavor and ideal for weeknight dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 80/20 lean
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon grated yellow onion
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 white hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 4 slices American cheese
- 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- 8 slices vine-ripe tomatoes
Instructions
- Fold a piece of parchment paper in half to create a triangle. Tuck the corners under the burger to form a pocket.
- Heat the griddle to a high temperature. Roll the ground beef into balls and place them on the griddle with space in between.
- Lay a piece of parchment paper over each ball and use a spatula to press down firmly, smashing the patty flat.
- Apply strong pressure while smashing to achieve crispy, caramelized edges.
- Assemble your burgers starting with the bottom bun, then add a slice of cheese, the smash patty, and your desired toppings.
- Enjoy your homemade smash burger and appreciate the mix of flavors and textures.
Notes
For a twist, try different cheeses or additional toppings like bacon or avocado. Pair with fries or onion rings for a classic meal.
