Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheese (e.g., American)
  • Lettuce, for serving
  • Tomato, sliced, for serving

  • Ketchup, for serving
  • Mustard, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into equal portions (about 4-6 ounces each) and shape them into loose balls.
  3. Once the skillet is hot, place the meatballs onto the skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form a thin patty.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy, then flip and add cheese on top.
  6. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  7. Toast the burger buns on the skillet if desired.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding your favorite toppings.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Use fresh ground beef with a higher fat content for a juicier burger. Let the skillet get really hot for best results.
