Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, corn, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and diced carrots, and sauté until softened.
- Stir in the mixed vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
- Layer the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing out with a spatula.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use leftover cooked meat to save time. You can add herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra flavor. For a crispy top, broil the pie for a few minutes after baking.
