Description

A comforting dish with seasoned beef, layered with creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, corn, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and diced carrots, and sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in the mixed vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Layer the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing out with a spatula.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use leftover cooked meat to save time. You can add herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra flavor. For a crispy top, broil the pie for a few minutes after baking.
