Description

Delightful red velvet brownies topped with creamy cream cheese frosting, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar, optional
  • 2-3 teaspoons red food coloring
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch kosher salt
  • 1-3 teaspoons heavy cream, as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9 inch square pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, whisking until incorporated, then add white vinegar and red food coloring.
  4. Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  6. Let the brownies cool in the pan.
  7. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and room temperature butter until smooth. Then add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy, adding cream as needed for consistency.
  8. Once brownies are cool, frost them with the cream cheese frosting and smooth it out.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting.

Notes

Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
