Delightful red velvet brownies topped with creamy cream cheese frosting, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar, optional
- 2-3 teaspoons red food coloring
- 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch kosher salt
- 1-3 teaspoons heavy cream, as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9 inch square pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, whisking until incorporated, then add white vinegar and red food coloring.
- Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and room temperature butter until smooth. Then add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy, adding cream as needed for consistency.
- Once brownies are cool, frost them with the cream cheese frosting and smooth it out.
- Let the brownies cool completely before cutting.
Notes
Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
