Description
A delightful casserole combining buttery bread, juicy blueberries, and warm cinnamon flavors, perfect for breakfast or brunch gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (preferably French or brioche)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- Butter for greasing
- Maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and place half of the cubes evenly in the greased dish.
- Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread cubes.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour half of the egg mixture gently over the bread cubes.
- Layer the remaining bread cubes on top, followed by the rest of the blueberries.
- Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top.
- Cover with foil and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving with maple syrup.
Notes
For added texture, serve warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
