Description

A delightful casserole combining buttery bread, juicy blueberries, and warm cinnamon flavors, perfect for breakfast or brunch gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably French or brioche)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • Butter for greasing
  • Maple syrup for serving


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and place half of the cubes evenly in the greased dish.
  3. Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread cubes.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Pour half of the egg mixture gently over the bread cubes.
  6. Layer the remaining bread cubes on top, followed by the rest of the blueberries.
  7. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top.
  8. Cover with foil and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  10. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving with maple syrup.

Notes

For added texture, serve warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
