Description

Juicy smash burgers packed with flavor and a crispy edge, perfect for cookouts and weeknight meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Onion (to taste)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions, about 4 ounces each, and roll them into loose balls.
  3. Season each ball generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. Place a beef ball on the hot surface and smash it down to about half an inch thick using a heavy spatula. Repeat for the remaining balls.
  5. Cook the patties for about 2 minutes until the edges are crispy. Top each patty with a slice of American cheese.
  6. Assemble your burger on toasted brioche buns with lettuce, tomato, onion, and any additional toppings you prefer.

Notes

Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor. Experiment with different toppings and cheeses.
