Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Onion (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions, about 4 ounces each, and roll them into loose balls.
- Season each ball generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Place a beef ball on the hot surface and smash it down to about half an inch thick using a heavy spatula. Repeat for the remaining balls.
- Cook the patties for about 2 minutes until the edges are crispy. Top each patty with a slice of American cheese.
- Assemble your burger on toasted brioche buns with lettuce, tomato, onion, and any additional toppings you prefer.
Notes
Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor. Experiment with different toppings and cheeses.
