Description

A comforting dish combining orzo pasta, Italian sausage, and a creamy garlic Parmesan sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 Italian sausages, casing removed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon, for about 5-7 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the orzo and pour in the broth, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, mixing until smooth.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a healthier twist, use turkey sausage. Substitute sausage with sautéed mushrooms and heavy cream with cashew cream for a vegan option.
