Description

A delightful dessert that combines layers of moist chocolate cake, whipped cream, and juicy cherries, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 package moist chocolate cake mix (or your favorite homemade version)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh cherries (or canned cherries/raspberries as alternatives)
  • 1 cup chocolate shavings (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Kirsch (optional, skip for non-alcoholic)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on your cake mix package or prepare your homemade version.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package instructions or your recipe. Once baked, allow it to cool completely.
  3. In a chilled bowl, pour in the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until soft peaks form.
  4. Rinse, pit, and slice fresh cherries if using them; drain canned cherries.
  5. In a trifle bowl or individual glasses, layer crumbled chocolate cake, whipped cream, and cherries. Repeat layers and end with a layer of cream on top, finishing with chocolate shavings.

Notes

Chill your mixing bowl for fluffier whipped cream. Adjust the sweetness and layers to your personal taste.
