Description

A hearty and comforting dish perfect for family dinners, combining simple ingredients into a filling casserole.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onion until the beef is cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  4. Add the cooked ground beef mixture on top of the potatoes.
  5. Spread the cream of mushroom soup over the beef layer.
  6. If using, add a layer of frozen mixed vegetables.
  7. Top with the remaining sliced potatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with a side salad or crusty bread. Optionally, sprinkle fresh herbs like parsley on top before serving.
