Description
A quick and customizable breakfast sandwich featuring fluffy pancakes and savory fillings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pancake mix (like Bisquick)
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup, plus extra for serving
- 2 tablespoons maple sugar or brown sugar (optional)
- 4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices American cheese
- 8 strips bacon, cooked until crispy or 4 breakfast sausage patties
- Butter or cooking spray for greasing
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together pancake mix, milk, 1 egg, and vegetable oil until just combined. Let batter rest for 5 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.
- Use a round cookie cutter or mason jar ring to pour about 3 tablespoons of batter for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden. Repeat to make 8 pancakes.
- In the same skillet, crack eggs into ring molds, season with salt and pepper, add a few drops of water, cover, and cook for 1-4 minutes as desired.
- Cook bacon until crispy or heat sausage patties until browned.
- Assemble the McGriddles by layering a pancake, cheese, egg, bacon or sausage, and another pancake. Press gently.
- Brush the tops lightly with warm maple syrup before serving.
Notes
Use ring molds for perfectly shaped pancakes and eggs. Customize with different cheeses or add spices for extra flavor.
