Description

Easy and flavorful slow-cooked beef sandwiches perfect for busy days, served with au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 2 – 3 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 – 6 hoagie or submarine rolls
  • Provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Au jus for dipping

Instructions

  1. Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix the French onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 480 – 600 minutes or on high for 240 – 300 minutes until the meat is tender.
  4. Remove the meat from the cooker and shred it with two forks.
  5. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker to soak up the juices.
  6. To serve, fill the hoagie rolls with the beef mixture and top with cheese, if desired.
  7. Serve with a small bowl of au jus for dipping.

Notes

For a thicker au jus, simmer it on the stove after cooking and add cornstarch mixed with water to thicken. Toast the hoagie rolls for a crispy texture before filling.
