Ingredients
- 2 – 3 pounds beef chuck roast
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 – 6 hoagie or submarine rolls
- Provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Au jus for dipping
Instructions
- Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, mix the French onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the roast.
- Cover and cook on low for 480 – 600 minutes or on high for 240 – 300 minutes until the meat is tender.
- Remove the meat from the cooker and shred it with two forks.
- Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker to soak up the juices.
- To serve, fill the hoagie rolls with the beef mixture and top with cheese, if desired.
- Serve with a small bowl of au jus for dipping.
Notes
For a thicker au jus, simmer it on the stove after cooking and add cornstarch mixed with water to thicken. Toast the hoagie rolls for a crispy texture before filling.
