Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Place the coated chicken in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- In the final 3 minutes of cooking, spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Continue cooking until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden, about 3-5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For gluten-free, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free options or almond flour. Fresh basil is optional but adds great flavor.
