Description

A perfectly seared ribeye steak cooked in a cast iron skillet for a delicious and tender meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Let the steaks sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Preheat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Add olive oil to the hot skillet.
  3. When the oil is shimmering, add the steaks to the skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms.
  4. Flip the steaks, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet.
  5. Baste the steaks with the melted butter for an additional 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness and let the steaks rest before slicing. You can switch up the cuts of steak or add flavors with herbs or marinades.
