Description
A perfectly seared ribeye steak cooked in a cast iron skillet for a delicious and tender meal.
Ingredients
- 2 ribeye steaks
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Let the steaks sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Add olive oil to the hot skillet.
- When the oil is shimmering, add the steaks to the skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms.
- Flip the steaks, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet.
- Baste the steaks with the melted butter for an additional 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.
- Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness and let the steaks rest before slicing. You can switch up the cuts of steak or add flavors with herbs or marinades.
